How Can We Help?
One of the most amazing things about Lutherans is the
instant call to action when disaster strikes. “Send me in
coach,” is the collective cry of Lutherans as we live out the Gospel
by helping our neighbors when they are in need.
One of the ways you can help is by letting us know who
needs help. If your pastor is overwhelmed, if your minister of
music seems flat, if an usher, or childcare help, or Sunday School
teacher, or the office manager seems overly tired, or sad, or distant
they may need some help.
With a rich history of helping others, we Lutherans
seem to put ourselves at the bottom of the list of who needs help. The
truth is we all need help at some point in time. Look out for
each other and if you see someone needs help, please let the Bishop’s
Office know.
We have money for emergency grants, and we also have
chaplains who are trained to help after a disaster impacts a
community. The chaplains will come and help and listen and even fill
the pulpit if a pastor needs some time to breathe. If there is a
need, ask. Let us know what is needed and we will do everything
we can to either fill it or find a resource that can fill it.
If you or your pastor or the church secretary or
whomever needs help, please communicate with Pastor Rob Rose in the
Bishop’s office. The communication is confidential. His
email is robr@fbsynod.org
or his direct phone line is (813) 876-7660 ext. 222.
He is ready to help.
