Lutheran Disaster Response

We continue to be stunned by the images and stories of devastation from Hurricane Ian.  We pray earnestly for those who are suffering and for the “helpers.”  Our Florida-Bahamas Synod is working tirelessly to provide relief to those who have lost so much, to provide pastoral support to the leaders of congregations that are suffering, to coordinate with the many agencies stepping in to help.  Updates as of Tuesday:

·    Our Synod has distributed $53,000 to help cover the immediate needs of those who have lost everything.

·    This continues to be a “search and recovery” effort.

·    We at Grace are pleased to be able to contribute financially to these efforts.

·    Bishop Suarez and Presiding Bishop Eaton are meeting with the pastor and deacons of the most severely affected congregations to provide pastoral care and support.

·    Gifts in kind are being carefully coordinated to be sure there is an organized system for distribution.  More information will follow.

If you would like to contribute to the financial needs of this recovery, 100% of your contribution to the Florida-Bahamas Synod will go directly to the relief efforts. You can make your check out to Grace and put “Ian” in the memo line.  Thank you for your care,  prayer, and gifts.
