“Often, when natural disasters strike or war drives families from their homes, our hearts ache with compassion but we don’t know how to help. If you’ve wondered how to volunteer to quilt for charity, look no further. Making Lutheran World Relief Mission Quilts is a tangible way to express love to our neighbors in need. Quilts can be used as warm bedding, simple tents, or floor coverings. Each one reflects God’s loving presence in a world rife with suffering.”

If you would like to make a difference in the world outside of Lakeland, Florida, consider getting involved in Grace’s quilt ministry. You can participate through donating fabric or quilt batting, sewing quilt tops during your available time, meeting on the second Thursday of each month at 9:00 a.m. to assemble the quilts’ layers, join the group in the winter packing of the quilts or deliver the packed quilts to Lutheran World Relief here in Florida.

You may also use the envelopes in the pew to make a monetary donation to help cover shipping costs. LWR’s approximate cost to deliver each quilt is $2.80.  And you can also make a designated contribution with your Tithely app.

If you have any questions, please feel free to speak to Barbara McPeak, Phyllis Gabriel, Barbara LeMond, Carol Gilds, or Kristen Storms.
