The SPCA is our Social Ministry focus for September. The SPCA operates on charitable donations. Last year close to 5,000 dogs and cats were surrendered or transferred in from other facilities due to overcrowding, adverse weather, abusive situations, etc. On any given day, as many as 300 animals may be on site and need food and care. Each one is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given heartworm/flea medicine, and treated for any other ailments. That’s where we can help. Needs have changed this year and include:
For Our Tummies:
Cats-Friskies wet food;
Dogs-Pedigree chunky cuts in gravy (wet)
For Play: Cat scratchers
To Keep Us Comfortable:
Cats - Kitty Kasas;
Dogs - Large outdoor, pedestal,
oscillating fan for outer kennels
or donations toward one
tainless steel water pails for outside yards
To Keep Us Safe: Dogs-EZ Walk harnesses & Martingale collars
To Keep Us Healthy: Donations for our vaccinations, medicine, surgeries
Most of the abovementioned items are on display in the narthex and can be purchased. (Checks can be made payable to Grace Lutheran. Indicate “SPCA” in the memo line or on the envelope.)
